A total of 95.5 of the 133 credits must be earned in required courses. Other requirements may be established by the school administration in relation to the particular program, otherwise the additional credits needed for a graduation may be selected from among elective courses.

During the transition period from 4X4 block to a full year schedule, the graduation requirements will be a combination of the credits required under each scheduling system. Each student within the years of graduation from 2017–2019 will have the combination of credits as outlined below. The graduation requirements for each year of graduation are listed below:

Credit Requirements:

Class of 2017: (Minimum credits in order to be a member of the graduating class of 2017)
Under the previous 4x4 schedule a Junior needs a minimum of 105 credits to be on track to graduate the following year. This comes from the previous requirement of 145 credits to graduate. Previously, there was the possibility to earn 40 credits per year. Thus, 145 minus the 40 that can be possibly earned in Senior year equal the 105 needed by the end of the Junior year. The same logic follows for subsequent classes.
105 credits under the 4x4 + 35 credits under the full year schedule + 3 credits of community service hours = 143 to graduate

Class of 2018: (Minimum credits in order to be a member of the graduating class of 2018)
65 credits under the 4x4 + 70 credits under the full year schedule + 3 credits of community service hours = 138 credits to graduate

Class of 2019: (Minimum credits in order to be a member of the graduating class of 2019)
25 credits under the 4x4 + 105 credits under the full year schedule + 3 credits of community service hours = 133 credits to graduate

Class of 2020 and later: (Minimum credits in order to be a member of the class of 2020)
130 credits under full year schedule + 3 credits of community service hours = 133 credits

All students will have the opportunity to earn 143 credits under the full year schedule.

Credit for Foreign Study: Students who are away for a term or year to participate in a student exchange program or otherwise study abroad may receive credits toward high school graduation when (1) study plans are approved by the school administration in advance; and (2) the institution where the study occurred submits a record of the student's work. In these instances, the Principal and student's guidance counselor will evaluate the work and assign credit for it according to standards prevailing in Leicester High School.

Students must complete all district graduation requirements including the passing of MCAS testing in order to be awarded a diploma. Students who pass all local graduation requirements and have not passed MCAS tests by graduation day will be awarded a Certificate of Achievement.
