1. The Superintendent shall act in emergency situations to preserve and protect the lives and property of pupils and staff and to protect public school buildings and property.
2. In those emergencies where the School Committee has provided no guidelines for administrative action, the Superintendent shall have power to act, but his decisions will be subject to review by the School Committee at its next regular meeting.
3. When circumstances of weather, power failure, lack of water or heat, work stoppage, epidemic, or other civil or natural emergencies make it impossible or unsafe to open or keep open any or all of the schools, the Superintendent shall have the power to close any school so affected. When the Superintendent does close one or more schools under the above granted authority, he shall immediately notify the Chairman of the School Committee of his actions together with his reasons for the action.
